摘要: Abstract The velocity and charge of individual charged droplets oil accelerated through 12 13 kv. have been measured. From these measurements, the density, accelerating potential, computations were made charge-to-mass ratio, mass, radius droplets. ratios 0.01 to 5 coulombs per kilogram droplet radii 0.1 10 microns. produced at point a hollow stainless steel needle maintained high (12–13 kv.) positive potential. Rayleigh's theory on instability liquid drops predicts maximum limit ratio as function above which become unstable. observed any found lie very close theoretical curve predicted by theory. This was about factor 50 below field emission basis E. W. Muller's work emission.
