摘要: Repeated (1934, 1956, and 1974) geodetic surveys across Owens Valley near the site of 1872 earthquake indicate right-lateral deformation at rate 4 +- 1 mm/yr possible extension valley mm/yr. level a down-to-the-east tilt about 0.22 0.04 ..mu..radians/yr for western block with hinge line rupture trace earthquake. This is equivalent to an uplift west edge 2.2 0.4 (i.e., base Sierra Nevada scarp) relative center valley. Although measured deformations are scarcely above survey noise, they all accumulation strain which would be consistent repeat (normal, oblique slip).
