摘要: Fungi have emerged worldwide as increasingly frequent causes of healthcare-associated infections. Invasive fungal infections can be life-threatening. However, the number antifungal agents available and their use in therapy is very limited. Recently, a new family specific cell wall synthesis inhibitors has an alternative gaining increasing relevance yearly. The multilayer dynamic structure, essential to integrity shape cell, whose function counteract osmotic forces that could otherwise produce lysis. absent nonfungal cells, therefore representing useful target discovering selective drugs for treatment without causing toxicity host. Although fungi exhibit considerable diversity all present β(1,3)-, β(1,6)- α(1,3)-glucans, chitin, mannoproteins major components. Three different lipopeptide echinocandins, named caspofungin, micafungin, anidulafungin, are commercially classes emerging. This review provides overview what so far known about wall-affecting mechanism action, offering alternatives with clinical potential.
