摘要: The roan antelope, endemic to Africa, is drastically declining in Kenya and most of its range throughout Africa. Extensive research on roans South Africa has not provided effective remedial management actions. solution Kenya’s will come from detailed Kenya. This paper reports an on-going “mapping modelling the antelope population habitat Ruma National Park, Kenya.” employing state-of-the-art techniques geographic information systems (GIS). Preliminary findings indicate that (i) declined 45 animals; (ii) roans’ home changes (a) with any slight change surface water and/or rainfall frequency (b) between within seasons (dry wet); (iii) behaviour implies possibilities poaching. Among other interventions, establishment a sanctuary (with intensive active management) N. Park seems be best way forward.
