Investigation of structural properties of lead strontium borate glasses for gamma-ray shielding applications

摘要: Abstract Glasses of the system PbO–SrO–B2O3 with value molar ratio R (=PbO/B2O3) in region 0.14≤R≤2.0 were prepared using melt quenching technique. In order to evaluate gamma-ray shielding properties for glass samples, mass attenuation coefficients have been calculated XCOM computer program. The longitudinal velocities ultrasonic waves measured these samples at room temperature pulse echo results indicate that increase value, stability network decreases. Stability decreases number borons non-bridging oxygens expense decrease tetrahedral borate units. This feature may lead open structure lesser rigidity samples. DSC studies undertaken measure transition and get an idea about increasing value.
