Problematic gaming behavior and the personality traits of video gamers: A cross-sectional survey.

摘要: Abstract Current psychological models for the development of specific internet-use disorders consider predisposing core characteristics (e.g. biopsychological constitution, psychopathology, early childhood experiences, and personality traits) that are involved in behavioral addiction process. The cross-sectional study discussed this paper examined several likely relevant variables a group 820 video gamers (217 women, 597 men), who visited world's largest trade fair games 2018. Standardized questionnaires were used to assess extent pathological gaming, Big Five traits, self-efficacy, depression symptoms, general life satisfaction. In comparison individuals with unproblematic gaming behavior, problematic behavior scored significantly higher neuroticism, time spent playing; lower extraversion, conscientiousness, openness. No difference was found terms agreeableness. Gamers preferred play massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPGs) or first-person shooter (FPS) presented particularly high levels playing increased behavior. When considering entire gamers, depressive symptoms extensive playing, as well low conscientiousness identified significant predictor regarding gaming. total, 238 (29.0%) demonstrated behaviors.
