摘要: We report a 511-keV photon flux enhancement that was observed inside thundercloud and is result of positron annihilation. The observation made with the In-flight Lightning Damage Assessment System (ILDAS) on board an A340 test aircraft. aircraft intentionally flying through thunderstorm at 12-km altitude over Northern Australia in January 2016. Two gamma ray detectors showed significant count rate increase synchronously fast electromagnetic field variations registered by on-board antenna. A sequence 10 enhancements detected, each lasted for about 1 s. Their spectrum mainly consists photons their Compton component. local electric activity during emission identified as series static discharges full-scale Geant4 model created to estimate area. Monte Carlo simulation indicated positrons annihilated direct vicinity or body.
