摘要: Review of an annual series cases empyema seen at a regional cardiothoracic unit showed that six out 25 were due to Streptococcus milleri. The details the are summarised. This organism is now important cause empyema, occurring much more commonly in men than women; but since it highly sensitive penicillins permanent resolution can be achieved with antibiotic treatment combined open or closed drainage.
