摘要: Abstract Two spectacular new orchid species from the semi-arid Karoo region of South Africa are described here. Both have been confused withSatyrium erectumSw. in past, yet clear diagnostic characters which justify their recognition as distinct species.Satyrium pulchrumS. Johnson & Kurzweilsp. nov., known only an isolated granite inselberg Namaqualand, appears to be sister taxon toS. erectum, whereasSatyrium pallensS. several populations along southern margins Karoo, has closer affinities toSatyrium longicolleLindl. These four form a monophyletic group characterized by synapomorphies. The allopatric distribution pattern and considerable divergence floral suggest that speciation involved shifts pollination system geographically populations.
