摘要: This paper describes the recovery of carbon fibres from scrap fibre reinforced thermoset composites by a fluidised bed thermal process. The process is described in detail and properties recovered are presented. It found that tensile strength decreases with increasing processing temperature. Fibres at 450°C retain approximately 80% their virgin strength. However, Young's modulus largely unaffected Investigation lengths image analysis indicated weighted mean length between 4.5 mm 6 mm. Finally, suggestions made for applications reuse fibres.
