A Near-Infrared Coronal Emission-Line Polarimeter

摘要: The direction, but not the magnitude, of solar coronal magnetic field is encoded in linear polarization certain emission lines. High Altitude Observatory, collaboration with Sacramento Peak has constructed a polarimeter which measures plane 10747A and 10798A Fe XIII instrument simultaneously provides similar measurements continuum corona sky at 10690A to give net line intensity polarization. Polarization brightness maps made clearly show large scale organization signatures characteristic diverging fields over sunspots, horizontal above filament channels, Van Vleck turnover helmet streamers.
