摘要: PROBLEM/CONDITION An increasing proportion of adults have received recommended vaccinations against influenza, pneumococcal infection, and tetanus. However, in 1995, fewer than 60% were vaccinated as recommended. REPORTING PERIOD COVERED 1993-1997. DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEM Data obtained from the state-based Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) for 1993, 1997 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) 1995 to describe national, regional, state-specific patterns use influenza vaccines tetanus toxoid among noninstitutionalized aged > or = 18 years. RESULTS Among 65 years 58% reported receiving an vaccination during previous 12 months, 34% ever a vaccination. Adults with chronic medical conditions had low levels. Those 50-64 those 18-49 (38% versus 20%) (20% 12%). who 10 decreased age, 65% 54% 40% each women less men toxoid; years, Asians/Pacific Islanders least all racial/ethnic groups toxoid. INTERPRETATION By Healthy People 2000 objective increase at annual been achieved (objective 20.11). substantial improvement is needed blacks, Hispanics, < high-risk conditions. PUBLIC HEALTH ACTIONS Continued surveillance vaccine coverage will direct attention undervaccinated populations that may be disproportionately affected by vaccine-preventable diseases. Vaccination data can used guide efforts awareness health-care providers public about benefits vaccination, establish systems ensure every contact system update vaccinations, further support financial mechanisms delivery.
