摘要: Global heating is happening. The opportunity to prevent it has been missed. Originating in the Industrial Revolution, ever greater use of fossil fuels impacts entire world – especially future generations, who contribute nothing problem and have no say today. near-universal consensus that accumulation atmosphere greenhouse gases heats Earth’s climate, an increase above 2 °C imperils basis human life, one beyond 3 °C threatens its destruction. flipside phenomenal economic demographic development past half century. Ever more people are enjoying, or pursuing, comfortable mobile lifestyles, cumulative effect push Earth carrying capacity. Recognizing these dangers, 2015 Paris Agreement was a major achievement but not good enough, because chances slim will be realized and, even if were, would suffice. individual national remedial action. Organizing decarbonization at proper scale speed formidable global public policy challenge on which survival species depends. Can governments deliver? And what, they can’t?
