摘要: A research cruise was conducted in the eastern Indian Ocean off west Sumatra, Indonesia, June 2003 to learn about spawning and larval ecology of tropical freshwater eels genus Anguilla region. total 43 anguillid leptocephali were collected during they genetically identified as 41 bicolor bicolor, 1 marmorata, interioris. A. 44.1–55.5 mm TL most them at fully grown stage. Reexamination historical data Jespersen (1942) also suggested a relatively low abundance small size (<40 mm) this species Sumatra. Although study area has long been considered be site distributions from two surveys patterns ocean currents region suggest possibility that main is located farther offshore.
