摘要: Objective The objective of this study was to examine the effects maternal psychological distress on estimated fetal weight during midgestation and explore hypothalamic-pituitary axis sympathoadrenal dysregulation as potential risk factors for these effects. Methods Fetal ultrasound biometry measurements sociodemographic characteristics, emotional symptoms, first morning urine samples were collected a clinical examination cross-sectional sample 98 women who between 16 29 weeks pregnant. from measurements; assessed using daily hassles (stress), Center Epidemiologic Studies-Depression (depression), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (anxiety) scales; assayed cortisol norepinephrine levels. Results Correlation analyses revealed that both (daily hassles, depression, anxiety) biochemical (cortisol norepinephrine) variables negatively related weight. A structural equation model further when independent variance sociodemographic, distress, biochemistry measures accounted for, prenatal only significant predictor Conclusions Women exhibiting pregnancy exhibit elevated levels are in turn lower
