摘要: Bone tissue is a porous, heterogeneous and anisotropic material, which adapts its mechanical properties depending of the local stress level. This evolutive behaviour bone normally known as remodelling. In this work, bone-remodelling theory, based on principles continuum damage mechanics, presented. The corresponding mathematical formulation has been implemented in finite element code order to predict response after implantation prosthesis or fixation. Although present model not experimental verification, predicts important qualitative results, being still necessary test against experimental/clinical work. main aim paper been, therefore, study long-term evolution, especially human femur when different types implants are employed. A comparative analysis between two widely used hip prostheses (the Exeter SHP), performed. We have also studied treatment proximal femoral fractures by means extramedullary intramedullary implants.
