The Contribution of Large Banking Institutions to Systemic Risk: What Do We Know? A Literature Review

摘要: Against the background of global financial crisis, we review recent literature on debate about “too big to fail”. This is (still) one key issues in banking since it determines conditions for adequate regulation, stability and economic welfare. Analyzing 30 papers from 2009 2017, our work focusses impact large banks systemic risk. Large institutions can affect risk by either contributing or being extremely exposed sources systematic contagion. We find a considerable number theoretical empirical studies providing evidence that against constitution present-day real systems, bank size predictor largest disproportionately contribute overall relationship found samples different composition, various periods with measures covering diverse aspects
