摘要: This study investigated the external body morphology (based on morphometric data) and swimming efficiency in fish passages ascent time a ladder) of two Neotropical long-distance migratory species. The were collected ladder Porto Primavera Hydroelectric Power Plant (known as Engenheiro Sergio Motta), upper Parana River, Brazil. species differ several ratios related to performance. Prochilodus lineatus exhibited higher muscle ratio caudal fin length ratio. However, Leporinus elongatus showed values for fineness ratio, from snout pectoral base peduncle depth factor. Although both show good performance, characteristics listed above may enable L. apply greater power propulsion, allowing it reach high speed exhibit than P. lineatus. moves faster has lower mean (1.39 hours) (3.76 hours). would require somewhat longer pass through ladder.
