Effect of needs-assessment-based psychoeducation for families of patients with schizophrenia on quality of life of patients and their families: A controlled study

摘要: Introduction: Family psychoeducation is one of the most routine interventions in a schizophrenic patients' management. We evaluated effects needs-assessment-based educational program comparison with current on global function and quality life (QOL) patients their families. Materials Methods: In this controlled study, 60 schizophrenia families were allocated for (treatment) education (control) programs. The family members both groups participated 10 sessions education, within about six months. QOL assessed assessment (GAF) Schizophrenia Quality Life Scales (SQLS), respectively. families' was World Health Organization's (WHO) Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF). Assessments done at beginning then every months, total 18 Results: Forty-two cases completed study. Global improved treatment (P = 0.002), but not control group 0.601). showed significant improvement psychosocial 0.1). There no change family's groups. Conclusions: psychoeducational needs may lead to more life, has effect life. It recommended that psychiatric care centers develop profiles based needs-assessment program.
