摘要: The trimethylaluminum dimer has a bridge structure with skeletal symmetry of D2h within the accuracy determination by x‐ray diffraction single crystals. Bridge bonds, Al–C, equal 2.24A, vs Al–C bonds 1.99A for exterior, ``normal'' methyls. angle Al–C–Al=70°, exterior C–Al–C=124°.It is shown that simple model provides right order magnitude heat dimerization and indicates relative importance Al–Al bonds. It suggested sharp required good bonding leads to metal‐metal repulsions which should increase as size metal increases. This probably plays role in instability nature polymers heavier trialkyl‐metal compounds.
