摘要: Objective To examine the effects of noninvasive pulsed radio frequency energy (PRFE) on recurrent migraine headache associated with occipital neuralgia. Methods Four patients who were receiving long-term treatment repeated greater and lesser nerve blocks (GLONBs) to control resistant other underwent PRFE at home as a substitute for GLONB treatment. was administered by patient 30 minutes twice daily through an applicator pad placed directly over occiput upper cervical spine. Results Three four reported decrease in frequency, severity, or both nonprostrating prostrating migraines compared their baseline symptoms; one no change from baseline. Comparing results those obtained after blocks, three decreases migraines, while two migraines. One increase frequency. Variable degrees increased productivity, decreased opioid nonopioid analgesic use, visits urgent care clinics noted. In had combined GLONB, marked improvement noted all symptoms. Conclusions Improvement headaches noted, especially when GLONB. Further study is warranted.
