Side Effects of Adjuvant Chemotherapy: Perceptions of Node-Negative Breast Cancer Patients

摘要: Twenty-one node-negative breast cancer patients were interviewed shortly after completing adjuvant chemotherapy and asked about side effects they had experienced, expectation of effects, strategies for coping with the effects. Eighteen women 6 months later to determine their feelings experience ending treatment what persisted or developed chemotherapy. Hair loss, fatigue, treatment-related problems, nausea infections/low blood counts most frequently described problems during first interviews. Patients used suggested by physicians nurses. Six later, hair weight gain, menopausal emotional nail often reported. Most (16/18) did not expect be experiencing chemotherapy-related treatment. Fatigue interfered daily lives gain caused concern. A total 35% participants experienced fear anxiety at end chemotherapy, but (62%) recalled least some positive later. Given same circumstances, all two would make decision undergo Support groups especially useful who lose continued frequent support from clinic personnel.
