摘要: Abstract Purpose: This study tested the hypothesis that some sensory innervation to lower incisor teeth comes from reentry of terminal branches mental nerve through labial plate anterior mandible. Patients and Methods: Ten cadaveric heads (20 sides) were dissected studied determine whether crossed midline or reentered plate. Using careful dissection, most posterior branch was exposed its point emergence at foramen insertions, any entries into recorded photographed. Results: Three 20 (15%) specimens showed unequivocal evidence Five displayed strong fibers reentering plate, but these too fragile be periosteum without breaking. In 12 (60%) specimens, there no identified bone Of eight showing for reentry, four had substantial crossover. Conclusions: The finding may reenter supply incisors explains phenomenon crossover contralateral fact a infiltration injection will anesthetize teeth.
