摘要: Robotics is a good opportunity for developing assistive technologies that could provide greater functionalities to more independent activities of daily living. The Jaco robotic arm one these devices. Using standard joystick control requires fine motor skills, which are often lacking in persons with spinal cord injury (SCI). A user- centered approach was conducted design two alternative graphical user interfaces the arm. Firs, five Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) were designed: three based on software keyboard and pie menu concepts. keyboards differ from visual representation: text buttons, icon or color organization adapted Jaco’s modes. menus according interaction technique used access second level menu, i.e. techniques pointing “goal crossing”. Then groups (one occupational therapists another quadriplegia caused by SCI) invited answer questionnaire collect their feedback evaluate future needs regarding GUIs presented. Following focus group proposed taking into account issues. paper will discuss user-centered issues arose at each stage design.
