摘要: Abstract We compared the epidemiological markers of 13 Staphylococcus epidermidis strains isolated from an adult inpatient during a febrile episode and 23 S. presumptive outbreak nosocomial infection in neonatal ward. The total DNA restriction endonuclease analysis (REA) was processed along with following conventional markers: biotyping, serotyping, phage typing, antibiotic susceptibility profiles, plasmid profiles. REA method reproducible, giving stable results both vitro vivo. For hospitalized patient, were concordant profiles identical. Five groups demonstrated course outbreak. Within two groups, identities all used to verify whether isolates belonged same cell clone. In third group, combined had be demonstrate isolate similarity. On other hand, another none similar; interpretation not easy. An study infections hospitals must take into account biotypes, serotypes, types, antibiograms, REA.
