摘要: A method and apparatus for performing refractive index, birefringence optical activity measurements of a material such as solid, liquid, gas or thin film is disclosed. The can also be used to measure the properties reflecting surface. disclosed has an ring-resonator in form fiber-loop resonator, race-track any waveguide-ring other structure with closed path that constitutes cavity. sample introduced into resonator light transmitted through relative and/or absolute shifts resonance frequencies changes characteristics transmission spectrum are observed. change transfer resonant ring, shift frequency, related sample's index (refractive indices) thereof. In case measurements, rings have modes two (quasi)-orthogonal (linear circular) polarization states observe frequencies. surface may ring resonator. raster-scanned purpose height-profiling features. plasmon excited phase due binding analytes determined frequency domain.
