摘要: Undernutrition is insufficiently detected in in- and outpatients, this likely to worsen during the next decades. The increased prevalence of obesity together with chronic illnesses associated fat-free mass (FFM) loss will result an sarcopenic obesity. In patients obesity, weight body index lack accuracy detect FFM loss. related increasing mortality, worse clinical outcomes, impaired quality life. diseases, composition measurement dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, bioelectrical impedance analysis, or computerized tomography quantifies FFM. It allows tailored nutritional support disease-specific therapy reduces risk drug toxicity. Body evaluation should be integrated into routine practice for initial assessment sequential follow-up status. could allow objective, systematic, early screening undernutrition promote rational initiation optimal support, thereby contributing reducing malnutrition-induced morbidity, worsening life, global health care costs.
