摘要: The long-term health benefits of caloric restriction (CR) are well known but the associated molecular mechanisms poorly understood despite increasing knowledge transcriptional and related metabolic changes. We report new insights into CR in nonhuman primates revealed by holistic inspection plasma 1H NMR spectroscopic lipoprotein profiles. results attenuation aging-dependant alterations energy metabolism CR, noted relative increase HDL reduction VLDL levels. Metabonomic analysis also animals exhibiting distinct trajectories from aging that correlated with higher insulin sensitivity. profiles insulin-sensitive were marked levels gluconate acetate suggesting a CR-modulated flux through pentose-phosphate pathway. metabonomic findings, particularly those parallel improved sensitivity, consistent diminished adiposity monkeys aging. profile pathways compatible our previous findings CR-induced gene changes tissue suggest critical regulation peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors as key mechanism. phenotyping provided this study can be used to define reference CR-associated longevity symbiotic superorganisms man.
