摘要: Agriculture is a major contributor to environmental degradation and climate change. At the same time, growing human population with changing dietary preferences driving ever increasing demand for food. The need urgent reform of agriculture widely recognized has resulted in number ambitious plans. However, there credible evidence suggest that these are unlikely meet twin objectives keeping increase global temperature within target 2.0 °C above preindustrial levels set out Paris Agreement delivering food security. Here, we discuss series technological options bring about change security providing multiple routes removal CO2 from atmosphere. These technologies include use silicate amendment soils sequester atmospheric CO2, agronomy soil organic carbon, high-yielding resource-efficient crops deliver increased agricultural yield, thus freeing land less suited intensive cropping practices will further carbon storage. Such alternatives regenerative agriculture, afforestation bioenergy coupled capture storage technologies. attempts satisfy but contributes degradation. potentially reduce CO2.
