摘要: The Eurostar Registry was established in 1996 to collate information, from centres across Europe, on the outcome endovascular grafting of aortic aneurysms. At end first year project, data 430 patients had been entered onto database. In 420 (97.7%), endografts were deployed without major complications. 30-day mortality rate low at 3.4% and deaths confined mostly 'high risk' with co-morbidity. Endoleaks, which present discharge hospital 15.7% patients, associated a significantly increased incidence continued expansion aneurysm sac postoperatively (P < 0.01). Thus early results confirmed feasibility complication repair aneurysms, but higher than expected endoleaks. 2 years, 895 registered. endoleaks remained unchanged another 18% developed new during follow-up. Six delayed ruptures reported, 3 fatal. There indications that 'self sealed' pressurise sac. Severe distortion grafts kinking other structural changes postoperative longitudinal shrinking observed 69% 1 year. Clinical complications these included late endoleak graft limb occlusion. Early unrealistic optimism about has replaced more realistic understanding its benefits limitations as result project registries. Randomised studies are now required establish most appropriate role for this approach, alongside therapies.
