Dynamic Changes in Organizational Motivations to Crowdsourcing for GLAMs

摘要: Crowdsourcing has gained popularity as a form of outsourcing. Outsourcing researchers have extensively studied the motivations to outsource IT, but very few organizations crowdsourcing, in particular for GLAMs (galleries, libraries, archives, museums). GLAM institutions are increasingly adopting crowdsourcing technologies due budgetary constraints and stay relevant. In this study, findings from an examination organizational by National Library Australia (NLA) examined its part Australian Newspapers Digitization Program (ANDP). The study found that NLA was motivated set goals dynamically changed throughout implementation project ranging cost reduction access external expertise through social engagement. Identification recognition dynamic nature motivation demonstrates long-term value implications other forms non-profit collaboration aimed at common good.
