摘要: Cognitive impairment occurs in diabetes mellitus. Glabridin as a major active flavonoids Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) improves learning and memory mice. In the present study, we investigated effect of chronic treatment with glabridin (5, 25 50 mg/kg, p.o.) on cognitive function control streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats.Animals were divided into untreated control, glabridin-treated mg/kg), treated mg/kg) groups. Treatments begun at onset hyperglycemia. Passive avoidance (PAL) was assessed 30 days later. Diabetes caused cognition deficits PAL paradigm. While oral administration (25 improved non-diabetic rats, it reversed rats. Low dose (5 did not alter partially reduced body weight hyperglycemia rats although differences significant. The combination antioxidant, neuroprotective anticholinesterase properties may all be responsible for observed effects. These results show that prevented deleterious effects Further studies are warranted clinical use management demented patients.
