摘要: A halophilic methanogenic microorganism isolated from sediments collected the southern arm of Great Salt Lake, Utah, is described. Cells were irregular, nonmotile cocci approximately 1.0 ..mu..m in diameter and stained gram negative. Colonies anaerobic plates roll tubes foamy, circular, cream-yellow. Methanol, methylamine, dimethylamine, trimethylamine supported growth methanogenesis. Hydrogen-carbon dioxide, formate, acetate not utilized. Sodium magnesium required for growth; optimum NaCl concentration ranged between 2.0 M, with minimum doubling time occurring at M. The temperature was 35/sup 0/C, maximum pH 7.5. DNA base composition 48.5 mol% guanine + cytosine. SLP type strain designation (= ATCC 35705).
