摘要: Abstract Although endocasts from fossil primates have been extensively examined in several previous studies, relatively little is currently known about the genetic and environmental factors that affect brain development extant non-human primates. We effects of age sex on size external morphology a large sample rhesus macaque Cayo Santiago skeletal collection. Using repeated measures design, we demonstrated sulcus lengths can be reliably assessed with current computer input technology careful trait definition. Age variation endocranial capacity were also analyzed using ANCOVA maximum likelihood estimation methods. Our cross-sectional data indicated total cranial increases postnatally macaque, while cortical sulci appear to reached their adult length at or soon after birth. Cranial reaches its volume 3·57 years females, but not until 6·08 males. found considerable sexual dimorphism males larger than particularly for more posteriorly located sulci. The is, however, function overall size. After controlling capacity, there no sulcal lengths.
