摘要: Biotic selective pressures dominate explanations for the evolutionary ecology of tropical endotherms. Yet, abiotic factors, principally precipitation regimes, shape biogeographical and phenological patterns in regions. Despite its importance, we lack a framework understanding when, why, how rain affects Here, review birds mammals respond to at individual, population, community levels, propose conceptual interpret divergent responses. Diverse direct indirect mechanisms underlie responses rainfall, including physiological, top-down, food-related drivers. Our constitutes roadmap empirical studies required understand consequences rainfall variability. Identifying underpinning temporal variation is crucial anticipate anthropogenic climate change.
