摘要: The reproductive biology of the sand dollar Peronella lesueuri was studied between 2009 and 2011 in Cockburn Sound, a large coastal embayment south-western Australia. Individuals P. did not display sexual size-dimorphism, population found to have sex ratio 1:1. Maturity occurred over range 80–115 mm with all dollars larger than 115 mm having distinct gonads. Monthly histological analysis gonads changes oocyte proportions time indicated that has an annual cycle; gametogenesis occurs spring spawning summer. Differences rate 2009/2010 2010/2011 may been influenced by higher temperatures experienced 2010/2011. ova (mean = 210 μm), which suggests species lecithotrophic larval development.
