摘要: In 111 children under five years of age and with uncomplicated malaria in Nouna, north-western Burkina Faso, amodiaquine treatment failed 75% (after PCR-based exclusion new infections, 32%). these, we assessed the role Plasmodium falciparum pfmdr1 pfcrt polymorphisms resistance. Except for 1246Y (prevalence, 5%), no P. allele predicted outcome. Pfcrt 76T as well 86Y, 86Y-184F-1246D, 86Y-184Y-1246Y were positively selected failures, 86N-184F-1246D negatively. The weak association pfmdr1/pfcrt alleles outcome suggests further factors to be involved unsatisfactory low efficacy drug limits usefulness these markers this area.
