摘要: A growing body of international evidence indicates that downsizing and related forms organisational restructuring are having profound adverse effects on worker safety, health wellbeing. In particular, links to poorer mental outcomes, including bullying other occupational violence. Australia federal, state territory safety (OHS) legislation imposes obligations employers who make changes the workplace or work processes identify hazards, undertake risk assessment, consult with employee representatives take appropriate steps manage any significant hazards identified, psychosocial hazards. This study shows while Australian regulators aware problems posed by they have made only modest efforts pursue compliance legislative duties, producing some guidance material refers workloads launching a small number prosecutions. At same time, there is an increased willingness address staffing levels impacts (like working in isolation). Employer union responses were also examined. The article concludes identifying initiatives would enable regulators, unions more effectively.
