Clinical study of oral galvanism: no evidence of toxic mercury exposure but anxiety disorder an important background factor

摘要: A total of 142 women and 76 men with self-diagnosed oral galvanism who were referred from dentists medical doctors for clinical evaluation during the last 2 yr are described perspective general medicine. No case clinically suspected mercury intoxication was found. Mean concentration in whole blood (B-Hg) 17.3 nmol/l, no value exceeded 50 nmol/l. Amalgam burden B-Hg not associated signs or symptoms except a significantly lower mean patients psychologic main than those without (mean 15.4 vs. 18.1 nmol/l). It possible to make one several diagnoses all 218 cases as reasonable alternatives concept galvanism. Mental disorder diagnosis 93 (42.7%), including 41 generalized anxiety 12 panic disorder. 87 (40%) did work because reasons unemployment. removal recommended 65 (29%), mainly on indications, but 22 conditions. The conditions behind seem be explicable terms medicine, toxic effect amalgam fillings need suspected.
