摘要: Abstract Terrestrial crops for biofuel may make a negligible contribution to net greenhouse gas emissions [1] , [2] and cause other environmental impacts such as reducing freshwater resources food security [3] . In light of these facts there is increasing interest in the production marine biofuels [4] [5] so recent paper Marine Policy by Roberts Upham [6] reviewing cultivation harvest UK Irish seaweeds very pertinent timely. However it contains number factual errors that need correcting raises several issues, which fuller clarification. These issues centre around three main themes: (1) confusion between occurrence intertidal subtidal species, (2) relative suitability seaweeds, their source (wild versus culture) feedstock generation (3) an appreciation scale at macroalgae would have be produced any impact on targets.
