摘要: In Ireland, the badger Meles meles L is a reservoir species for Mycobacterium bovis and, as such, contributes to maintenance of bovine tuberculosis in cattle. A previous estimate population Republic was 200,000 badgers. current study, we obtained data on numbers from large-scale removal project (the Four-Area project). The areas Project were surrounded by barriers (either water or buffer where removals also conducted) prevent immigration. Within these areas, grid 0.25 km2 created within which knew and habitat types (based Corine data). Associations between type investigated using negative binomial modeling. Extrapolations model yielded an estimated approximately 84,000 implications findings are discussed.
