摘要: Quantitative data were obtained to determine whether the temporal patterning of barks by male California sea lions ( Zalophus californianus ) could be used in their acoustical communication. The most important findings were: (a) mean number per series was significantly greater while a bull locomoting than he stationary. (b) Nondirected slower repetition rate directed barks. (c) more rapid when bulls at close range and displaying mutual boundary they center territories. (d) If actively herding females, his barking barked from stationary position. Thus, adult vary both as well rhythm barks, depending on social context. In this way animal appears control movements other behavior patterns its neighbors.
