摘要: Altered diffusion in the normal appearing white matter (NAWM) of glioma patients has been explained by tumor infiltration. The goal present study was to test this explanation indirectly examining whether these alterations were also contralateral NAWM non-infiltrative tumors like meningiomas; and search for other possible reasons abnormality. Twenty-seven with histologically verified (grade II-IV), 22 meningioma two groups age- sex-matched healthy controls underwent weighted imaging (DWI) on a 3T MR. All examined before treatment. Apparent coefficient (ADC) values calculated entire hemisphere tumor. ADC compared between Mann-Whitney U-test multiple linear regression. relations grade volume investigated. significantly higher both (P = 0.0006 0.0099, respectively). value high gliomas than low 0.0181) control subjects 0.0003). did not depend any patient groups. Elevated might indicate that effect infiltrating cells is only reason alteration as it previously suggested. Although role mass proved, mechanisms contribute elevation.
