The copper(I)-templated synthesis of the first [2]catenate incorporating electron-donor and -acceptor porphyrins linked mechanically, though not covalently, has been achieved, along with that related model compounds only electron donating zinc(II) porphyrins. preparations were approached by constructing macrocycles 2,9-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline residues pendant An unusual aggregation one these macrocycles, a gold(III) porphyrin, observed appears to be driven π–π stacking interactions, but proves no impediment preparation catenates. gross conformation catenates in solution seems approximately envisaged design where are directed opposite sides laterally away from heart catenate, since inter-porphyrin interactions could detected NMR or UV-visible spectroscopy. removal templating copper(I) ion is inhibited presence appended porphyrins, while free catenands may obtained when absent. Synthese de [2]cate′nates porteurs porphyrines par effet template cuivre(I).
