摘要: LIM-homeobox containing (Lhx) genes encode trascriptional regulators which play critical roles in a variety of developmental processes. We have identified two belonging to novel subfamily mammalian Lhx genes, designated Lhx6 and Lhx7. Whole-mount situ hybridisation showed that Lhx7 were expressed during mouse embryogenesis overlapping domains the first branchial arch basal forebrain. More specifically, expression was detected prior initiation tooth formation presumptive oral odontogenic mesenchyme maxillary mandibular During formation, restricted individual teeth. Using explant cultures, we shown under control signals derived from overlying epithelium; such absent epithelium non-odontogenic second arch. Furthermore, studies bead implantation experiments vitro provided strong evidence Fgf8 is primarily responsible for aspect In telencephalon, both predominantly localised developing medial ganglionic eminences, flanking Fgf8-positive midline region. suggest are key components signalling cascades determine morphogenesis differentiation
