Tsunami public awareness and the disaster management system of Sri Lanka

摘要: Purpose – This study aims to assess and evaluate the disaster management system in Sri Lanka capacity of a local community respond natural disasters, propose strategy for dissemination tsunami knowledge while raising public awareness disasters.Design/methodology/approach The survey focused on three clusters respondents different methodologies were adopted collect data from each group, as follows: residents: questionnaires followed by structured interview; school children: completed under guidance teacher; government officials: independently respondents, up with unstructured interviews officials charge related activities.Findings results residents indicate that; more than 90 percent lacked prior 2004 tsunami; main source information during was direct family neighbors; ...
