摘要: Electrically generated silver ions have been shown previously to be a potent antibacterial agent with an exceptionally broad spectrum as indicated by in vitro testing. The present study reports on clinical experience using electrically adjunctive treatment the management of chronic osteomyelitis. Fourteen patients had fifteen attempts: thirteen for osteomyelitis tibia, one acute and pyarthrosis knee, chronically draining sinus after total hip replacement. Wound debridement, ion iontophoresis, subsequent wound care (usually provided patient) resulted control infection twelve attempts healing non-union follow-up ranging from three thirty-six months. other led two partial complete failure.
