摘要: To examine the causes of land subsidence on marshes drained for agriculture, carbon fluxes and changes in land-surface elevation were determined three islands Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, California. Over time period March 1990 to May 1992, gaseous CO2 approximately monthly using closed chambers, dissolved from loads drainage ditches adjacent each field site. Surface measured continuously by measuring distance between surface an elevated structure anchored beneath organic soil layer. Gaseous accounted most permanent over monitoring period. are strongly affected temperature. Net rates islands, which have different depths soils water-management practices, range 0.46 1.06 cm/yr. Estimates all small relative losses represent <1% subsidence.
