摘要: We have previously demonstrated that patients with primary malignant brain tumors impaired in vivo and vitro cell-mediated immunity. The purpose of the present research was to employ pokeweed mitogen (PWM)-induced secretion immunoglobulin (Ig) by peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) further investigate lymphocyte function these patients. PWM response PBL from normal individuals averaged 8384 plaque-forming cells (PFC) per 10(6) cells, whereas 1590 PFC/10(6). decreased could not be improved varying number placed culture or employing different concentrations PWM. Co-culture experiments detect presence suppressor purified T cell preparations enhanced activity evident. Next, were performed assess T-helper obtained results lacked ability provide adequate helper response. Moreover, studies monoclonal antibodies directed against subsets revealed a reduced percentage (40%) as compared values (55%). In concert anomalies, B also is diminished. Thus, observations indicate combined defect may contribute broad impairment host immunocompetence observed gliomas.
