摘要: An experimental soil cover was constructed near London, Ontario and monitored for more than a year percolation water content data. The multi-layer system consisting of compacted till barrier placed between gravel layers, final topsoil cap in one half coarse stone the other half. lower layer intended to provide capillary break that would minimize gravity driven drainage till, while created at upper gravel-till interface reduce evaporative losses during dry periods. results showed maintained relatively high degree saturation low hydraulic conductivity under stone, it desiccated resulted rates. textural or grain size contrast fine underlying which, together with topsoil, prevented infiltrating waters from recharging till. Thus not able rebound its pre-desiccation content. saturated about 1 × 10−8 m/s after year, compared 2.0 10−10 construction.
